Partnership is Key

The Client & The Pathologist:

In a partnership, decision-making is a collaborative effort to determine the most ideal path to improvement.

A speech-language pathologist is many things, including a facilitator, a motivator, an advocate, an optimist, and a collaborator. The therapy process should be a partnership. This means that, once an evaluation is completed, goals are chosen based on a client’s priorities and interests, and what is needed in order for the client to engage with others. What is needed to improve a person’s quality and enjoyment of life is individual and unique to each client.

In a partnership, decision-making is a collaborative effort to determine the most ideal path to improvement. This is best accomplished by working together to identify strengths and areas of need and then prioritizing those needs to enhance or improve the ability to communicate to your fullest potential.
